While it is certainly nice to see someone invoke actual science in the discussion of climate change, much of what Mike Brake wrote (Letters, “Rational on climate change,” Oct. 17, Oklahoma Gazette) deserves further scrutiny. In short, discussions of the Medieval Warm Period (which was a regional, not global, phenomenon), solar variations and Milankovitch cycles are merely red herrings used to deflect focus from the uncomfortable, yet undeniable, evidence supporting anthropogenic climate-forcing.

Many a student has undoubtedly played a game of “snow day roulette” in which the student opts to postpone completing homework under the hope inclement weather will result in a school closing. If the forecast is wrong or the school otherwise remains open, the student is often in quite a predicament.

Is it not the least bit ironic that Rep. Paul Wesselhöft accuses liberals of demonization immediately prior to launching into a spurious, factually challenged attack on the supporters of Park51?
