Press Release: Upstage Theatre Presents Oklahoma premiere of

 “bare: a pop opera”

Upstage Theatre is proud to announce their production of bare: a pop opera.

bare is directed by Upstage Owner & Executive Director, Brett Rottmayer with Musical Direction by Mary Brozina.

A group of high school seniors at a Catholic boarding school face issues of personal identity. As they struggle to come to terms with who they are, and who the world thinks they should be, they seek answers from their Church, their friends, and ultimately, from within themselves. Its rich, vibrant score draws on many styles of contemporary music. While it was written almost a decade ago, the heart and message of bare is still just as relevant and touching today as it was then. It is not difficult to identify with some aspect of this show.

bare features the talents of students from The University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University as well as several Oklahoma City Community theatre favorites (Renee Anderson, Paul Mitchell, Jenny Rottmayer, and Michael Stewart).

bare performs Jan 18-19 at 7:30 with a 2:00pm matinee on the 19 & 20 and 24-26 at 7:30 with a special midnight showing on the 26th. The show will perform at the Upstage Black Box Theatre located at 844 W Danforth in Edmond. Tickets are $16 for adults, $8 for Students. Bare is rated “R” for mature themes and language. You can purchase tickets by calling (405) 285-5803. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the show.
