Fishery of Change Exhibit
Visual Art Exhibition of Cedar Marie.
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., February, 2013 -- Independent Artists of Oklahoma present artist Cedar Marie in a new exhibition entitled “Fishery of Change,” which opens on Friday Feb., 22 and will remain on display through Wednesday, March 13. A free, public reception will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22. Big Truck Tacos will be onsite and a nautical-themed set will be performed by King Mary.
IAO's exhibition of Cedar Marie's art work will be preceded by a "Final Friday After Party" Enjoy musical and theatrical performances by recent darlings of Acoustic Oklahoma, King Mary, while munching on great fish tacos from The Big Truck Taco Truck and signature IAO beer and wine cocktails from 9pm-midnight.
This mix-media exhibition will feature photography and sculpture-based work that examines the cultural shifts of small fishing communities.
“I am inspired by people who make their living on the water,” artist Cedar Marie said. “The exhibit aims to provide insight into communities whose economy is driven by family fishing. The artwork acts as a buoy that might navigate viewers from all walks of life into thinking about cultural change in their own communities and how this change can affect a deep sense of home and place.”
The IAO Gallery is located at 706 West Sheridan Avenue, between Shartel Avenue & Lee Boulevard. It is located in the Historic Film District of Downtown Oklahoma City, OK 73146, with regular business hours of noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
