Performing artists find an outlet to showcase their talent on the stage in the third year of The Rhythm of the World: Dance and Music around the Globe 2013. The multicultural dance and music revue takes place on Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 in the Main Auditorium at Hillsdale Barber Center, Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College (3701 I-35 S Service Rd, Moore). Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 and children 5 years or under are admitted free. With local performers representing many global traditions, the show celebrates Oklahoma’s diversity. Marjan, a local bellydance performer/instructor and one of the show’s organizers, is excite d to bring this show to the Oklahoma community for a third year and hopes it will continue for many more. “It feels as though dancers and other performing artists need more opportunities to showcase their talent on the stage throughout the year. We hope that The Rhythm of the World helps fill this void.”
A variety of styles and rhythms will be featured, including Hawaiian Hula from the Halau Hula ‘O Nani dancers, Middle Eastern dance from performer and instructor Marjan and her students, Mexican Folkloric representations by Norahua Folklorico Mexicano, Latin-flavored dancing from Candela Latin Dancers from Clips ‘N Hips, Mexican ranchera style singing by the voice of Ana Becerra, African drumming from Africa Sanké, and many more surprises.
