Second Annual V.O.I.C.E Art Show Fundraiser: Breaking the Rules, An Evening of Art, Religion, & Politics (in polite conversation, of course)  After the huge success of last years event, the call was again sent out to local visual and spoken word artists to take the V.O.I.C.E agenda of issues and create compelling works of art. On March 7, 2013 at the IAO Gallery (706 W. Sheridan) 5:30-8:30pm the public is invited to view the results in the show Breaking the Rules II: Art, Religion, & Politics (in polite conversation, of course).

"This evening is a great chance to mix art, religion, politics and fantastic, interesting people...and all for a great cause," said Rev. Chris Moore, associate pastor of Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ.   Breaking the Rules II is the result of V.O.I.C.E’s continued work to break down stereotypes and to create relationships across perceived boundaries. This show also serves as a significant fundraiser for the organization and helps to raise awareness of the V.O.I.C.E agenda of issues, which are:

Public School Education
Immigration
General Healthcare
Senior’s Economic Issues
Infrastructure
Economic Justice
Public Transportation
Prison Justice
Family Support

"We had a great time last year and we bought a beautiful piece of art which now hangs proudly in the social studies room of the Harding Fine Arts Academy," said Jim Rowan, a local attorney. "I am really looking forward to attending this year."

In addition to fabulous art and stimulating conversation, there will be great eats provided by local restaurants including Iguana Grill (9 NW 9th Street OKC) and Go Go Sushi (432 NW 10th Street OKC). The new V.O.I.C.E t-shirt (designed by local artist Lynn Barnett-Sparks with the help of McKenzie & Company) will also be available to purchas e that evening.  Tickets are available NOW at The Paramount OKC: Reel Art, Wine, & Coffee (701 W. Sheridan Ave) and are $25. Tickets will also be available the night of the show.  Breaking the Rules II is sponsored by The Paramount OKC: Reel Art, Wine, & Coffee, McKenzie & Company, and Jack Werner (A to Z Inspections).  V.O.I.C.E (Voices Organized in Civic Engagement) is a coalition of 25+ religious institutions, non-profits, and public schools who have come together across perceived boundaries to work on issues facing families and individuals in metro Oklahoma City.   Media Contact Tammy Greenman twink-9@att.net 405-397-1619  Artist Contact Lynn Barnett 528-4404  VOICE Kris King 405-613-3621
