The ONE Event

Norman Art Council's annual fundraiser The ONE Event is taking a whimsical spin this year with a surrealist theme that promises to make for an unforgettable experience. The spectacle only will be rivaled by the art created specifically for the auction and raffle at ONE.


         The ONE Event will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. March 30, 2013 at MAINSITE Contemporary Art: Home of Norman Arts Council, 122 E. Main Street, in Norman.


         Proceeds from The ONE Event goes to support Norman Art Council's operating costs. Even more than that, ONE highlights the arts and culture of Norman by celebrating and showcasing the community's artists and art organizations.


         Guests at ONE get a fabulous sampling of the Norman arts scene will noshing on selections from some of Norman's favorite culinary spots.


         The Chair-ity Auction is back for a second year, showcasing wild, artisan spins on the traditional seat. The Chair-ity Auction is joined by a new addition to the event's programming, the ONE Fiiiine Art Raffle, which features wood panels turned into fine art by Oklahoma favorites like Rick Fry, Tony Thunder, Marwin Bagaye, Almira Grammer, Carol Beesley and many more. Norman artists Skip Hill and Hunter Roth will also do a live painting to be auctioned off at night's end.

         There will also be a prize package raffle featuring items from Norman businesses like Guestroom Records, Salon Zen and STASH, as well as passes to deadCENTER Film Festival, a McNellie's Norman Beer Tasting, box seats to the Sunday, April 7 Oklahoma City Thunder v. New York Knicks game and much more.


         An award for best dressed in the surrealist theme will encourage attendees to channel their inner Salvador Dali, all while music by DJ Timmy B plays in the background. The Fowler Arts Education Award will be presented to Jennifer Baker, executive director of Sooner Theatre, during ONE as well.


         General admission is $50 in advance and $60 at the door. VIP tickets - which includes access to a special VIP Lounge featuring signature drinks, an absinthe fountain, swag bag and private photobooth - are available for $75. VIP ticket holders are also invited to a special preview event at LOCAL taking place on Thursday, March 28.

Participating restaurants include: Bison Witches, Blackbird Gastropub, Blu, Chipotle, Coriander Café, Crimson & Whipped Cream, Das Boot Camp, Full Moon Sushi, Gray Owl and LOCAL.
