Swans and the Silver Screen
As part of an ongoing celebration and public education effort to help audiences prepare for the Oklahoma City Ballet’s first ever full-length performance of Swan Lake, The Barre will host a free public screening of the movie Black Swan at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 4 at The Paramount OKC, 701 W. Sheridan Ave.
The “Swans and the Silver Screen” party will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cash-bar happy hour where attendees can meet and mingle with Oklahoma City Ballet company dancers. Ryan Bellgardt and Lucas Ross, the 2 Movie Guys, will introduce Black Swan at 6:30 p.m.
“Black Swan is a fictional, behind-the-scenes look at a ballet company preparing for an important production of Swan Lake,” Barre co-chairman Kyle Hayles said. “The film may be a little darker than the reality of the Oklahoma City Ballet, but it is an accurate reflection in many ways of what the dancers are experiencing right now in their intense preparation for the milestone performances to come in April. This event is a great way to connect with young professionals who support the performing arts in OKC.”
The Oklahoma City Ballet will present a full-length production of Swan Lake for the first time in its 41-year history April 19 – 21 at the Civic Center Music Hall. For more information, visit www.okcballet.com or call 405.848.TOES (8637).
