Ed Huckeby Book Signing

2-4 p.m., Saturday April 13

Author Ed Huckeby Book Signing Event

WHEN: 4/13/13

TIME: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

WHERE: Hastings, 2300 West Main Street, Norman, OK 73069

WHAT: Huckeby, a resident of Warr Acres, OK, will be available to sign copies of his book, Judy Plays the Tuba, Johnny Plays the Flute.

Dr. Ed Huckeby served as the Chief Academic and Operations Director and Assoc. VP for Academic Affairs at NSU-Broken Arrow from July, 1999 through December, 2009. Huckeby now serves as President of Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, OK. He is also an internationally recognized conductor and composer of symphonic band music. "I actually wrote this children's book in Broken Arrow, using a concept I have had in mind for over a decade. It's nice to have the book in print so it can, hopefully, inspire young people to engage in music as a life-long pursuit." Huckeby has almost 200 published musical works and has served as a guest conductor in 35 states, Canada, Australia and Japan.

Judy and Johnny only wanted to play in the band. They never expected people to make fun of them because of the instruments they chose to play. Since when were only boys allowed to play the tuba, or only girls allowed to play the flute, anyway? But Judy and Johnny refuse to let the bullies make them mad, and they quickly learn that the most important thing about playing in the band is learning to love and appreciate the gift of music.
