Earth Day Fair
OSU-Oklahoma City’s Go Green student organization will be hosting its fourth annual Earth Day Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25 on campus outdoors on the north side of the Student Center.
Attendees can enjoy free food, music provided by KJ103 and enter a drawing for prizes. There will also be a variety of environmentally-friendly organizations present such as Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Whole Foods Market and Waste Management.
OSU-OKC’s Go Green student group has a goal of promoting environmental awareness on campus and within the community by supporting community service projects, educational seminars and presentations.
“Say no to bottled water, use online banking or bill pay, turn off lights and change bulbs to CFL or LED are some great ways to ‘go green’ in our everyday lives,” says Scott Sawyer, OSU-OKC Go Green Advisor. “The number one thing a person can do to help the environment is practice the three R’s: reduce, reuse and recycle.”
The student group’s Earth Day Fair and other spring service projects are sponsored in part by Keep Oklahoma Beautiful and through a grant from OGE Energy Corp as part of the Great American CleanUp initiative.
Earth Day is an annual worldwide celebration that aims to increase awareness and appreciation of the earth’s natural environment.
