“Far & Away  |  Up Close”

May 3, 2013 6-10 pm

Please join us for the opening reception of “Far & Away | Up Close” at Contemporary Art Gallery during Paseo's 1st Friday Gallery Art Walk.

In "Far & Away | Up Close," Contemporary Art Gallery's featured Artists Kim Pagonis and Carol Shanahan explore the land and nature through vivid landscape paintings and  larger-than-life paintings and photographs of the land's natural inhabitants.

Kim Pagonis' passion for painting is obvious in her brush strokes, brave use of color and shape. Her high contrasting paintings evoke the viewer to stay awhile and linger in the feel of color. Find out more about Kim's art at http://kimberlypagonis.com/ and follow her blog.

Carol Shanahan photographs and paints nature, mostly Oklahoma wildflowers and their counterparts. Using bright colors, natural patterns and textures, tight compositions with a bug's eye view, she presents her subject up close and personal as resilient, fragile, tough, colorful, tenacious, whimsical, beautiful, and sometimes overlooked Oklahoma residents.

The exhibit continues through June 2, 2013 and also features works by other gallery artists.

Contemporary Art Gallery is located at 2928 Paseo, Oklahoma City, OK 73103. The gallery is open Thursday through Saturday from noon to 5 pm. Sunday from 1 to 4 pm, and is closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
