"Paws 4 the Cause" Dachshund Dash

Saturday October 22
Four legged athletes will be raising money for additional seating and shade at Enid’s dog park.  The 2nd annual Paws 4 the Cause Dachshund Dash is set for October 22, 2011 at Enid’s Chisholm Trail Expo Center.  “The dog park located in Crosslin Park is a popular attraction for Enid’s dogs and their owners, there is need for more seating and shade, so it is a perfect fit for Paws 4 the Cause”, said April Danahy Vice President of Corporate Communications for Security National Bank of Enid and one of the dash organizers.   “We are thrilled that the community is getting involved in helping make a great park even better”, said Rebecca Hodgen City of Enid Director of Public Relations,  “The dog park is heavily utilized, making each visit more enjoyable for the pets and their people has always been our goal, more shade and seating will be a welcome improvement”.

New to the event will be a costume contest for all breeds of dogs.  The costume contest will be held prior to the start of the races.

Over 40 dachshunds dashed to the finish line during the inaugural Paws 4 the Cause event.  Organizers expect the athlete count to grow this year.  A race held annually in Oklahoma City was not held this year making room for growth in the Enid race.    The dash is just for fun with trophies being awarded to the fastest racers.   Registration is $20 through September 09, 2011.  The registration fee increases to $45 after September 9th.  All dachshund athletes must be current on their shots and cannot be aggressive.  Athletes who register before the 9th are guaranteed to be in the official racing program.  Entry forms may be obtained from the Paws 4 the Cause website paws4thecause.com or the Groom Closet, 2005 West Chestnut Avenue.

Sponsorships and booth opportunities are available for the event and can be secure by phoning Lynne Benkendorf at 548-8194.
