The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe
The search is on in the award-winning one woman comedy, The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe by Jane Wagner and starring one of Oklahoma City’s finest and most beloved actresses, Brenda Williams. This divine human comedy plays July 12-27, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm at the Boom Dinner Theatre, 2218 NW 39th St.
Ms. Williams will portray over 16 roles including the narrator of the story, Trudy, the bag lady. Trudy befriends aliens from outer space and takes them on a journey meeting all walks of life on planet Earth, including a 15 year old punk performance artist, a jaded socialite, a male swinger turned health nut, a 70’s radical feminist, a tripped out prostitute and so many more eccentric characters.
“This play is a celebration of Brenda Williams and her amazing talents,” says director Robert Matson, “The audience will watch this wonderful actress weave in and out of one role to the other.”
Brenda Williams first performed the show with The Pollard Theatre when she was a company member. “The first time it was so new and different, I didn’t have time to enjoy it,” says Brenda, “But this time the shoes are coming off and I’m ready for her.” Brenda has also performed with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Carpenter Square and is also involved with popular improvisational group, Everybody and Their Dog.
The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe is produced by Robert JM Productions and the Boom. Tickets are $20 and can be reserved at 286-9298 or at www.tarsplace.com. Dinner and drinks will also be served before and during the show but is not part of the ticket price.
