Total Wellness Class

None
5-6 p.m., Tuesday October 15

Beginning in August, the Oklahoma City-County Health Department (OCCHD) and Wellness Now will offer a new round of free Total Wellness classes at libraries, schools and community centers across the Metro. These popular classes are designed to help participants lose weight by encouraging healthy behaviors.

The Total Wellness program provides eating plans that are well balanced, healthy, and easy to follow.  The classes are about much more than losing weight, says OCCHD’s Chronic Disease Prevention program Dietitian Jennifer Like. “The classes focus on developing a range of healthy habits that can lead to better health over a lifetime,” Like says.

The risk of chronic diseases often drops significantly with only a few pounds of weight loss. Losing just 5% of body weight can significantly lower your cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar. Classes meet for one hour each week for 12 weeks. Participants will be encouraged to set goals of losing 5% of their body weight and becoming active for 2 ½ hours per week.

Registration is required and classes are already filling up fast. To register, please call

(405) 425-4352 or email Total_Wellness@occhd.org. Class locations, dates and times are listed below.  If a class is full, you can be added to a waiting list.
