7:10 p.m., Saturday August 24
Carpenter Square Theatre will host Best in Ten 2013, an event to benefit the theater, on Saturday, August 24. The event will be held at 800 W. Main, located at the southwest corner of Main and Shartel in downtown Oklahoma City.  Proceeds from Best in Ten will help support the programming for the theatre’s 30th Anniversary Season, which includes eight productions and educational outreach to at-risk students in the metro area.  The theme for this year’s benefit is A 30th Birthday Celebration!
At Best in Ten, Carpenter Square will pay tribute to Vicki Wilcox.  Ms. Wilcox is a long-time supporter of the theater and has performed with Carpenter Square many times over the years, including being in the award-winning Over the River and Through the Woods, which performed nationally and internationally.
A reception with food provided by area restaurants begins at 7:10 p.m.  Tributes to the guest of honor and the entertainment begin at 8:10 p.m.  Carpenter Square Theatre will present staged readings of short plays, including the winning plays from the theater’s 10th Annual Ten-Minute Play Contest.  The selected Oklahoma playwrights include Janet Bristow and Janis Contway, both of Edmond, and Rick Lippert and Marie C. Filippino, both of Oklahoma City. In addition, the evening will include live and silent auctions and a wine pull.
