12 x 12
Square art by 150 Oklahoma artists shapes the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition’s 12x12 Art Fundraiser along with live music and local restaurants for a one-night-only event. Held on Friday, September 20, 7:00 pm at 50 Penn Place, 1900 NW Expressway in Oklahoma City, the 12x12 Art Fundraiser raises funds for the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) to help artists throughout Oklahoma to realize their potential.
“OVAC’s annual fundraiser, the 12x12, is a wonderful opportunity to acquire original art created by Oklahoma artists,” said Gina Ellis, co-chair of the volunteer planning committee. “The event raises funds supporting OVAC’s programs for artists throughout Oklahoma. Art is an important part of our daily lives and attending this event is a fabulous and fun way to help support artists living and working in our local communities.”
For 12x12, each artist creates a work sized twelve-by-twelve inches. The artwork is sold in a surprising silent and blind auction, meaning bidders will not know what others have bid. Bids for each piece begin at $175. Collectors who fear losing a piece of art in the auction may “Buy It Now” to trump the auction. Additionally, attendees can purchase $5 chances to win prize packages.
The Bank of America Gallery in Leadership Square, 211 N. Robinson in downtown OKC, hosts a free preview exhibition August 1-September 16, giving a sample of the art to be featured at the main event. Starting in early September, audiences can also catch an online preview of the art at www.12x12okc.org. To see the entire exhibition, art lovers will have to attend the one-night event.
In addition to the art, 12x12 attendees enjoy a taste of the city with hors d’oeuvres and sweets provided by 33 popular local restaurants. Dress is evening casual and drinks are served from a cash bar.
