Organic Oklahoma

The OSU-Oklahoma City Agriculture Technologies Division is hosting Organic Oklahoma, the first annual sustainable and organic production conference designed for beginning and advanced growers, on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1 at the Agriculture Resource Center on campus, 400 N. Portland Ave.


Program emphases will include hands-on growing techniques, farm management practices, tours of the university’s Farmers Market, greenhouses and high tunnel facilities, visits with product suppliers, educational vendors and agricultural support agencies, and more. Featured speakers include nationally and state recognized specialists and experienced local growers. A Saturday afternoon field trip will include a community garden composting demonstration and an organic farm tour.


“This conference will allow beginning growers to save time, effort and money by learning the techniques that will help them succeed,” said Julia Laughlin, OSU-OKC Horticulture Department Head.


This year’s keynote address speaker will be Ray Archuleta, a conservation agronomist at the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) East National Technology Support Center in Greensboro, N.C. Archuleta has 25 years of experience with the NRCS and is a certified Professional Soil Scientist with Soil Science Society of America.


Registration is $50 and will cover the cost of food and educational materials. Sponsorship packages are also available and include Silver Level at $250, Gold Level at $500 and Platinum Level at $1,000. Registration and sponsorship forms as well as the conference agenda can be found at
