8 p.m., Friday February 21
Carpenter Square Theatre continues its 30th Anniversary Season with “Good People,” David Lindsay-Abaire’s award-winning comedy-drama that explores the struggles and hopes that come with having next to nothing in America. Performances are February 21-March 15 at 800 W. Main in downtown Oklahoma City.

Winner of the 2011 New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play, and a Best Play Tony nominee, the story centers on Margaret, a resident of rough-and-tumble South Boston who cannot keep a job and is now facing eviction. Hoping that former flame Mike might hold the key to a new life, she seeks him out, while ignoring the fact that this now successful professional might not be too keen on looking back at life in the old neighborhood.   Playwright Lindsay-Abaire pays his respects to his old blue-collar neighborhood, having grown up in South Boston.  His scrappy characters are by turns funny and touching. As they deal with the hard knocks life lobs at them, he asks us to consider whether it is strength of character or twists of fate that determine a person’s path.

     Specific show times spanning four weekends are: 8 p.m. February 21-22 and February 28-March 1; 7:30 p.m. March 6, 8 p.m. March 7-8, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9; 7:30 p.m. March 13, and 8 p.m. March 14-15.

Regular adult tickets are $20 with $15 tickets available for seniors, military, and groups of ten or more.  Student rush tickets are only $5.  “Good People” is rated PG for strong language.
