7:30 p.m., Thursday March 06

Don’t miss a timeless classic portrayed from a contemporary point-of-view as Macbeth takes the stage in the Bruce Owen Theater at Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC), March 6-8.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. each evening, William Shakespeare’s tale of lust, murder and ambition promises to grab and maintain power throughout the entire production. Rachel Irick, artistic director for the OKC Theatre Company will serve as the director of the show.

“Macbeth is one of our main stage productions,” Brent Noel, OCCC Theater Arts professor, said. “The cast has been in rehearsal for about four weeks now, and the actors include OCCC professor Tad Thurston as Banquo and retired professor Richard Rouilard as King Duncan.”

Rachel Irick is a long-time company member who recently succeeded founding artistic director Richard Nelson after serving as OKCTC's associate artistic director for two seasons.

Irick is an accomplished actor, director and theatre instructor and holds graduate degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University.

Irick’s favorite directing credits include Quilters, The Mousetrap, West Side Story, Into the Woods, Little Shop of Horrors, Electra, Marvin's Room, Little Women, The Glass Menagerie, Ordinary People, and her own adaptation of the Oresteia Trilogy.

Plays under her direction (On The Verge in '03 and OKC Theatre Company's Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol in '07) were named by the Oklahoma Gazette as "Top 5 Dramatic Events," and her OKC Theatre Company production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roofwas named one of the "best plays of 2007" by The Oklahoman. Irick has appeared in OKC Theatre Company productions of Julius Caesar, Nickel and Dimed, Amadeus, and King Lear.

General admission to the production of Macbeth is $10; $5 for students.
