Under Construction: An Exhibition Showcasing the Evolution of Design Ideas by Amy Jacobson-Peters
The reception is free and open to the public. The Donna Nigh Gallery is located on the third floor of the Nigh University Center.
A Central alumnus with a Masters of Science in Interior Design, Jacobson-Peters is an instructor of design at UCO. Her professional portfolio includes custom furniture designs for clients such as Disney, the Bellagio Hotel and the Beverly Hills Hotel. She also works as a freelance graphic and furniture design artist and exhibits her work in local galleries.
“Under Construction” will consist of pieces Jacobson-Peters has produced as a part of her course work for her Master of Fine Arts, which she is currently pursuing online through the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Calif.
“The goal of this exhibit is to showcase all the leg work that goes into a final design,” said Jacobson-Peters.
The exhibit will consist of several concept sketches that led to final projects Jacobson-Peters has completed, such as a new design for a handheld screwdriver, a serving tower and a collection of custom mirrors.
“The brainstorming process, the phase of discovering new work within yourself, that’s the fun part. That’s what being a designer is all about,” concluded Jacobson-Peters.
In addition to the concept sketches, Jacobson-Peters will also display her final projects at the design opening.
“Under Construction” will be on display through April 10.
