The play ponders the question; what if there were gay characters inserted into the storylines of popular movies and television programs and answers them with comic results. Part of the movie list includes “Gone with the Wind”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “The Poseidon Adventure”, “Star Wars”, “Psycho” to popular television shows such as “I Love Lucy”, “Star Trek”, “The Addams Family”, “Lassie” plus some cartoon favorites; “Popeye” and “The Flintstones”.
The comedy ensemble includes Aaron Chartier, Kyle Davison, Joe Gatz, Courtney Hahne, Lana Henson, Dougie Rankin and Abby Tresner. They’ll portray a multitude of characters including a gay wookie, lesbians in love on a sinking ship,a drag queen and his boyfriend living next to the Ricardos, a bi-sexual elf, Bedrock’s first lesbian newlyweds, Lassie’s cross dressing neighbor and many more.
Insert Gay Character Here performs Friday and Saturday nights at 8 pm, March 7-22 with a 2 pm Sunday matinee on March 16. The comedy is produced by Robert JM Productions, staging original and diverse theatre in OKC, and is suitable for ages 16 and up.
