Tuesday April 08

New Media Collective is pleased to announce its annual student-led exhibition, titled Circadian Rhythms, which will be on display in the Lightwell Gallery at the OU School of Art and Art History from April 1-16. A complimentary, public opening reception is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, April 4.

New Media Collective is a registered student organization at the University of Oklahoma. The club promotes personal growth for students studying photography, film, video, performance, technology and media arts. Circadian Rhythmswill showcase work by active members of this organization.

“New Media Collective is a growing organization with a desire to bring fresh and exciting experiences for student artists to be a part of,” said Amy Sanders, president of the group. “We want the community to be a part of these experiences as well, and invite the public to attend the opening reception for this event.”

Circadian Rhythms will feature both traditional and nontraditional elements inspired by the concept of time and cycles.  The show will offer its audience a chance to view new media and performance art by OU students, particularly those that incorporate nontraditional media and emerging technologies into their work.

For three days, the exhibition will be in a progressive installation state. Participating artists will cycle through the gallery space, one at a time, for eight hours each, putting together a work of art. Each artist will stream all or part of this eight-hour creative installation process online. This live streaming video will be available 24/7 beginning April 1 at 8 a.m. and ending April 4 at noon, after which all of the completed works will be on display for an opening reception from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, April 4. Circadian Rhythms will be on display through April 16.
