Defeaters of Dull: The Design Senior Show
The University of Central Oklahoma Department of Design will present “Defeaters of Dull: The Design Senior Show” from 6-8 p.m. April 17 at the First National Center, 120 N. Robinson Ave., Suite 730W, in downtown Oklahoma City.
This free and open-to-the-public exhibit will be on display for one night only.
The exhibit will feature the works of 43 graduating graphic and interior design majors.
The exhibit will be a survey of the best works each individual student produced during their time at Central. The work for graphic design students will range from branding and identity designs to packaging and poster designs. The work for interior design students will range from space plans to renderings of floor plans and furniture designs.
“This is the first time the design department has ever combined a senior showcase for both graphic design students and interior design students into one exhibit,” said Amy Johnson, M.F.A., chair of the UCO Department of Design.
“We are so excited to do so and showcase the quality of work, depth of concepts and work ethic of execution for all graduating design students in one evening. It is not often so much talent is housed in one event.”
The department elected to show students’ work in downtown Oklahoma City because of the proximity to all major design studios in the metropolitan area.
“We’ve often had professionals in the design arena comment on how our students’ work doesn’t look like it was designed by a student, but rather by a fellow design professional,” said Johnson.
“The design department is thrilled to present this exhibit in the heart of the professional design district these students will be entering after graduating this May.”
