Oklahoma=0D=0A= City University’s artist in residence Mike Wimmer will host art socials=0D=0A= in the university’s studios each month through April. The events are =0D=0A= free to the public and are appropriate for all ages and artistic skill =0D=0A= levels.
=0D=0A=The =0D=0A= drawing and painting socials will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 28, =0D=0A= Feb. 25, March 25 and April 29 in the Norick Art Center at N.W. 26th Street=0D=0A= and Blackwelder Avenue. They will include live music and models in =0D=0A= costume, and refreshments will be served. Participants should bring =0D=0A= their own art supplies.
=0D=0A=Wimmer, =0D=0A= chairman of the OCU Art Department, painted many of the works in the =0D=0A= state Capitol Building. He started working on a national scale primarily=0D=0A= as a children’s book illustrator.
=0D=0A=His other=0D=0A= projects include creating a more kind and gentle Mr. Clean illustration=0D=0A= for the popular cleaning products company, the cover art for Disney’s =0D=0A= “Lion King” soundtrack, commemorative can designs for Planters Peanuts =0D=0A= and an ornament featuring Will Rogers to hang on the White House =0D=0A= Christmas tree as Oklahoma’s representative decoration.
