They are discussing gun control and Arizona, and someone says if someone had a pistol that day, the guy in Arizona would have been dead.

‘Gun-hating zealots’ are perpetuating backward thought

Letters to the Editor

Keith Kelley
Webb claims to leave “any and every establishment when I see a person with a gun who is not wearing a law enforcement uniform.” Since Oklahoma law states your gun must be concealed, how are you seeing all these people with guns? I know of no one advocating everyone and their old maid aunt pack heat, except you.

As bad as that recent Hitchcock biopic was, it doesn’t damage the greatness of the suspense master’s films. One of his early successes, The 39 Steps, helped inform a Tony-winning Broadway version in 2008 that now is at Jewel Box Theatre, 3700 N. Walker. The 150-character spy romp stages at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, through Feb. 10. Tickets are $5-$10. Call 521-1786 or visit jewelboxtheatre.org.

The Great Gildersleeve Movie Collection

You’d have to be a harrrrrd man not to like it.

Comedy

Rod Lott
Now that I’ve devoured Warner Archive’s The Great Gildersleeve Movie Collection, I know who my mom was referring to all those years. It’s irrelevant for your enjoyment of the set, but Harold Peary’s Gildersleeve character proved so popular on the Fibber McGee and Molly radio program, he was spun off into his own show (and eventually TV and these films).
