OKS MPFree vol. 1

Free! Legal! Awesome!

So, we have a new site. It hosts MP3s. In celebration, here’s some totally free and legal MP3s, totally hosted by us. We're gonna start posting a bunch more mp3s as part of OKS, so get your iPods ready.

OKGPick!Generationals – “Trust” OKS faves Generationals return with a blast of giddy indie-pop-rock that reminds of Bishop Allen and Backyard Tire Fire. The melody (“My friend/O-li-vi-a-a-a)  will be stuck your head for hours.

Empress Hotel – “Bells Ring.” Oohs, ahs, plodding bass and infectious melodies. Get yr fill of charming indie-pop here.

Acid House Kings – “Are We Lovers or Are We Friends?” Not actually acid house, this Swedish trio plays timeless pop songs that sound equal parts ‘50s, ‘70s and ‘80s without being pigeonholed anywhere. You will smile.

Acrylics – “Nightwatch” Somewhere between the dreamy Beach House and the cold Portishead lies Acrylics.

Midnight Juggernauts decided it would be a good idea to have all their friends remix the same song, so here’s five remixes of “Lara VS The Savage Pack.” The original hyperkinetic electro-pop song, which you can hear here, is jam-packed with synths, beats, riffs and choirs (leaving a lot to remix).

"Lara Vs The Savage Pack (LOL Boys Remix)" –This herky-jerky slow jam might have the same chords, but that’s about all that remains the same. This is a rewrite, not a remix.

"Lara Vs The Savage Pack (Das Moth Remix)"
– Chillwave is so hot right now.

"Lara Vs The Savage Pack (Kisses Remix)" – '80s dance remix, complete with pad synths and terrible/wonderful drum machines.

"Lara Vs The Savage Pack (Electric 6 Remix)" – Nintendo sounds, mega bass and unabashed disco strings. What’s not to like? This is the best remix, as well as the one that does best justice to the song.

"Lara Vs The Savage Pack (Plastic Plates Remix)" – Turns it into a full-fledged disco song, to be fit into the mix next to Duck Sauce’s “Barbara Streisand.” Yeah, you know you love that song.
