Giant insects have infested Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History at 2401 Chautauqua in Norman, and they’re staying put for a while! Luckily, they’re in the form of two exhibits debuting with a free reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday: Bugs ... Outside the Box and Beautiful Beasts: The Unseen Life of Oklahoma Spiders and Insects, running through May 12 and Sept. 8, respectively. Admission is free Saturday and Sunday. Call 325-4712 or visit

The polka-dotted beetles known as ladybugs aren’t just fun to look at; they love to eat the pests that kill our plants. Bug Out! and help release these graceful creatures into the wild 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory at Myriad Botanical Gardens, 301 W.
