Mildly spellbinding, well-made indie thriller

“Beneath the Dark” bears an awful lot of similarity to “Vacancy,” the 2007 thriller in which Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale were tormented at a seedy, near-abandoned motel in the middle of nowhere.
