Those of you awaiting the “Conan the Barbarian” 3-D remake hitting theaters on Aug. 19, satisfy your hunger for swords and sorcery until then with Shout! Factory’s DVD release of “Conan the Adventurer: Season One,” streeting July 26.

It’s two discs of the 1982 cartoon series. I wasn’t even aware there was a cartoon series. We’ll have a review soon. In the meantime, feast on these three clips. —Rod Lott

At first listening to this new track from Phil and the Osophers, I worried that my headphones were wearing out. Turns out the cracking and fizzling is just part of the recording, very much like this splotchy and frenetic video that appears to have been shot on some sort of psychedelic film that’s been aging since 1967.

The 2000s saw folk singers assemble indie-orchestra bands loaded with violins, cute musician girls and scruffy faces (Sufjan Stevens, Lost in the Trees, Austin, Texas's Mother Falcon).

Portland’s Typhoon just may have literally taken this sub-sub-genre as high as it’s ever gone.

I’ve never played a “Tekken” video game. But I have seen the new, live-action “Tekken” movie, now available on the DVDs and the Blu-rays.

Now there’s another “Tekken” movie, this one is animated, is only showing tonight, won’t hit video until around Thanksgiving, and looks fairly insane. I call your attention to this entry from last Wednesday’s Gazette:

OKC indie rockers Junebug Spade played inside RedPin Restaurant & Bowling Lounge for the latest episode of “Chevy Bricktown Showcase”! Check out the video below:

Stillwater dudes People, People spread their flannel blankets over their drum skins for a muted, intimate show inside the ol’ VDub Vanagon with videographer Nathan Poppe for the latest episode of “The VDub Sessions.” Titled “Golden Rust,” the song’s new and lovely. Everybody involved gets bonus points for riding around in that AC-less heat trap.

Online T-shirt shop ROCKWORLDEAST (whose PR peeps swear up and down that the company name really is written in unappealing all caps) recently released its top five items for the summer. Amid the usual music-oriented tops (Misfits, Wiz Khalifa, Grateful Dead) are two movie-merchandise wearables.

One is a shirt featuring Zach Galifianakis’ character from “The Hangover” films, above the line, “That’s classic.”

Unfortunately, the other is this flat-brim hat featuring Green Lantern. Woe be to the teen or tween who tries to wear this at my dinner table, much less bring into my house. —Rod Lott
