Kill ’Em All

Morrrrrtal combatttttt!

Action

Rod Lott
For the first 10 minutes, I wondered if Kill ’Em All weren’t a movie at all, but a collection of unrelated action vignettes — a bomb hit here, a knife throw there, fists and feet everywhere — as seemingly unrelated characters fight, but hardly speak, with no story given.

All Superheroes Must Die

Packs a mild punch.

Thriller

Rod Lott
At least All Superheroes Must Die isn't like every other comic book-inspired cinematic vision that currently serve as the buttered bread to Hollywood's rumbling stomach. That alone is not enough to make for a good movie, but it's a head start.

Big Worm — Bench All-Stars

Hip Hop/Rap

Louis Fowler
Fans of the comedy classic Friday may recognize the name Big Worm, but the Big Worm behind Bench All-Stars is rooted not in South Central L.A., but on the streets of Oklahoma City.

Love Is All You Need

When brokenhearted, middle-aged people assemble for a wedding in Italy, that’s amore.

Drama

Rod Lott
On paper — or computer screen — Love Is All You Need sounds like an overdose of saccharine. Even swallowing just a few plot keywords could trigger symptoms: “widower,” “wedding” and “breast cancer.”
