The hot place to be

From desolate to in-demand, Midtown has risen from a ‘neglected backwater’ with help from a dedicated community.

News

Tim Farley

OKG7 things to do

Gazette staff

While not necessarily a duel in the traditional sense (you know, the kind where the loser dies at the end), world champion bull rider J.B. Mauney and world champion bull, Bushwacker, are set for an old-fashioned manbull showdown in PBR’s Clash of the Champions rodeo event. The bucking battle goes down 7 p.m. Saturday at Chesapeake Energy Arena, 100 W. Reno Ave. Tickets are $18-$103. Call 602-8700 or visit chesapeakearena.com.

Mayweather vs. Maidana

OKG7 things to do

Gazette staff

Call us old-fashioned, but we still think boxing is pretty rad, especially when it involves one of the sport’s dignitaries like WBC Welterweight World Champion Floyd Mayweather. See Mayweather take on WBA Welterweight World Champion Marcos Maidana in a live broadcast — and on the big screen, no less — 8 p.m. Saturday at Regal Spotlight Stadium 14, 1100 N. Interstate Drive; AMC Quail Springs 24, 2501 W. Memorial Rd.; and Cinemark Tinseltown USA, 6001 N. Martin Luther King Ave. Tickets are $10-$25. Visit fathomevents.com.
