A bill that would temporarily suspend a law requiring state construction
projects to include visual art passed the House March 9 by a vote of
61-26 and will now be considered by the Senate.

One of the engineers on the project said that within months the newly
realigned Interstate 40 Crosstown Expressway is expected to begin taking
traffic. Construction work for downtown’s new boulevard will begin,
although it may look quite different from early renderings.
While MAPS 3 promised 70 miles of new sidewalks, project officials say only about 25 miles can be built for the $6.8 million budget.

program, Oklahoma City is now looking at constructing possibly less
than 40 percent of that amount for the entire project.

and main thoroughfares.
