Life is an expressway

ODOT steps it up with near-completion of I-40 realignment and announces start of downtown boulevard construction.

One of the engineers on the project said that within months the newly realigned Interstate 40 Crosstown Expressway is expected to begin taking traffic. Construction work for downtown’s new boulevard will begin, although it may look quite different from early renderings.

Mileage may vary

While MAPS 3 promised 70 miles of new sidewalks, project officials say only about 25 miles can be built for the $6.8 million budget.

Despite a promise of 70 miles of new sidewalks as part of the MAPS 3 program, Oklahoma City is now looking at constructing possibly less than 40 percent of that amount for the entire project.
