H.P. Lovecraft’s Cool Air

Ice it.

Rod Lott
H.P. Lovecraft’s Cool Air is really Albert Pyun’s Cool Air. The notorious director of the aborted Captain America and the should’ve-been-aborted Kathy Ireland vehicle known as Alien from L.A. is up to his usual inert tricks. It shows from the start, which forces viewers to read six title cards in two long minutes.

OKG7 things to do

Gazette staff

You can do a lot of cool things with a can: Kick it, smash it, drink delicious beverages out of it. But have you ever built a canned food structure? That’s what teams of architects, contractors, engineers and designers are invited to do at CANstruction, a nonprofit competition benefitting City Rescue Mission of Oklahoma City. The event is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Bricktown Chevy Events Center, 425 E. California Ave. Admission is one can of food. Visit canstruction.org.

OKG7 things to do

Gazette staff

Several cool things happened in 2001: Wikipedia launched, Apple introduced the first iPod. But one of the coolest was the inaugural Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, a tribute to those who were killed in and affected by the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in 1995. The 14th annual race is 6:30 a.m. Sunday in downtown Oklahoma City, with checkin at the Health & Fitness Expo at Cox Convention Center, One Myriad Gardens. Registration is $10-$325.
