Represent, Norman! On the heels of last year’s Guitar Slinger hit album, homeboy Vince Gill returns for a 9 p.m. Friday concert at WinStar World Casino, 777 Casino in Thackerville. The country superstar has earned more Grammys than any male artist in his genre — 27! — so we understand he’s pretty darn good. Tickets are $40-$60. Call 800-622-6317 or visit winstarworldcasino.com.

Look, Vince Gill isn’t going to appear on just anyone’s album, so Shannon McNally must be doing something right. Fresh from Small Town Talk, a disc co-recorded with Dr. John, the singer-songwriter has an 8 p.m Sunday appointment to knock on The Blue Door, 2805 N. McKinley. Tickets are $20. Call 524-0738 or visit bluedoorokc.com.

Vince Gill looks hate in the face

Sometimes, people surprise you (in a good way). We here at CFN were more than pleasantly surprised last week when we ran across a video of one of Oklahoma’s world-famous country crooners (and Northwest Classen High School grad — go mighty Knights!), Vince Gill, giving those jerks at Westboro Baptist Church the what-haveyou. On Sept. 8, Westboro members set up outside the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Mo., where Gill was set to perform.
