VOTD: Toro Y Moi, 'How I Know'

Like an episode of ‘Scooby-Doo’ soundtracked by chillwave.

So the guy who plays Lindsay Lohan’s memorable gay friend in “Mean Girls” goes into a haunted house accompanied by his two hipster buddies, and they all get murdered by a couple of indie QT ghosts, but it’s OK! ’Cause they’re QTs!

“Now we’re all ghosts, let’s dance!” they seem to say. All this one’s missing is an appearance by one Scrappy Cornelius Doo.

VOTD: James Blake at Pitchfork Music Festival

Watch the indie-electronica wunderkind blow festival-exhausted minds with “CMYK.”

Whoever said outdoor electronic day shows were boring?

James Blake performed "CMYK" at Pitchfork Music Festival a few weekends back, accompanied by a pretty talented drummer and another guy who appears to switch between a guitar for the song's CV radio coda and some sort of synthesizer for the frenetic groove in the middle.

Toss in some crazy vocal effects from Mr. Blake and you've got a couple thousand happy, dancing hipsters.

Portlandia: Season One / The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret: Series One

Put a bird on it!

Television series

Rod Lott
IFC airs two comedies clearly too hip for the room ... which is why they’re on IFC, of course. Now that the first seasons of “Portlandia” and “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret” have hit DVD, those of us without the cable channel can see if we’ve been missing anything.

Endangered hipsters

CFN

Gazette staff
The species is characterized by any number of traits: flannel shirts, ample beards, tattoos, the scent of freshly smoked clove cigarettes. They tend to gravitate toward hole-in-the-wall bars or trendy pizzerias, where they brandish obscure beers and discuss their love of indie bands, environmentalism and Ron Paul.
