Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa

Rather than retire, the Jackass franchise flirts with fiction — if not sexually harasses it — in the semi-scripted, wholly hilarious Bad Grandpa.

Comedy

Riotous as they are, the Jackass movies have not been immune to the law of diminishing returns — in terms of laughs, not box office. That the fourth feature, Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, is the funniest since the first, 2002's Jackass: The Movie, is something of an unexpected achievement.

Her

More than just a futuristic love story, Spike Jonze’s Her is a timely, philosophical masterwork.

Drama

Zach Hale
The futuristic Los Angeles depicted in Her is hardly dystopian. Instead of war-torn landscapes and flying robot drones, director Spike Jonze offers Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix, The Master), a lonesome writer in the midst of a divorce, and the soft, affectionate voice of Samantha (Scarlet Johannson, Don Jon), a computer-based operating system with whom he falls in love.

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa

Badder equals better.

Comedy

Rod Lott
Strange as it sounds, come March 2, one of the films that stands a good chance of walking home with an Academy Award is Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. It’s one of three nominees in the category of makeup, but still, the recognition marks real progress for films that open with a senior citizen getting his junk caught in a vending machine.
