I grew up reading comic books — and today, occasionally make some extra dough writing for them — but I must admit, I’ve never heard of Rock ’n’ Roll Comics, the underground sensation at the heart of this lo-fi documentary from Wild Eye Releasing. Turns out, not knowing matters not; hardcore comics fans — or those just into esoteric, DIY projects — should find it interesting, if told with a little true-to-spirit sloppiness.

Naturally, that's not gonna happen; while Sabrina the Teenage Witch casts a protection spell, a meddling Veronica casts a projection spell, thus unleashing a vampire, a werewolf, a mummy and a Frankenstein-esque creature on the squeaky-clean populace.

When Carrie Underwood appeared in concert in Louisville, Ky., last month, it made the night — perhaps even life — of 12-yearold Chase Kurnick. The enterprising youth attended the show with his parents, and brought a homemade sign reading, “Will you be my first kiss?” Presumably becomes Oklahomans are such nice people, especially in Carrie’s hometown of Checotah, she brought the tween onstage to fulfill his fantasy.
