All in the family

Using recipes collected from a lifetime in the kitchen with her Italian family, Cathy Cummings turns out traditional, homemade favorites in her Vito’s Ristorante.

There’s nothing like a bowl of pasta and some fresh bread to warm you up on a bitter winter night. Throw in an intimate dining room and a bottle of wine, and you’ll forget it’s blowing like mad outside.

‘Bite me’

Food and Drink Features

Carol Smaglinski
Hands down, the just-published “Bite Me” is, as the cover states, a “stomach-satisfying, visually gratifying, fresh-mouthed cookbook.” And it all starts with the bright, blue cover that features shrimp hanging by clothespins on a laundry line.

In the kitchen

Fill your kitchen with great decor, no matter how often it's used

Features

You don’t need to be a chef to want a lovely kitchen. I’m barely to sous chef level, yet I’m constantly on the lookout for quirky additions to my lime green-painted kitchen.

The (off)beat goes on

OKC offers many music venues off the beaten path.

Music

Phil Bacharach
Randy Cassimus has spent years cranking out rock ’n’ roll in bars and clubs throughout Oklahoma City. He’s used to playing over the clink of beer glasses and shouts of liquored-up patrons when he plays with local band The Hi-Def Howlers. So he wasn’t quite sure what to expect when he booked an acoustic gig at a bookstore.

Hot house

Yes, it’s a giant gingerbread house. Yes, it’ll be on display through the new year.

Features

Malena Lott
Making a gingerbread house is at the heart of many families’ holiday traditions. Now, Ingrid’s Kitchen, located in the heart of Oklahoma city at 3701 North Youngs Blvd. (2 blocks west of Pennsylvania Avenue on NW 36th Street) is getting in on the act with a life-size gingerbread house.
