LETTERS

Letters to the Editor

Wanda Jo Stapleton
All five of Oklahoma’s U.S. Congressmen voted on September 19 for House Resolution 3102, a measure that cuts $40 billion, over ten years, from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps. They are Jim Bridenstine (Tulsa), Tom Cole (Moore), James Lankford (Oklahoma City), Frank Lucas (Cheyenne), and Markwayne Mullin (Muskogee) — all Republicans.

Wish Lists

News

Gazette staff
What do local notables want this holiday season? Well, Oklahoma Gazette asked ’em. And they told us. Imagine that!  We passed along these lists to Mr. Claus to do with as he sees fit. But for now, we’re reading the list — some of it twice, because it’s that good. We talked to everyone from adult film stars to leading conservative politicians to get insight — and a laugh — from our leading locals. Happy holidays! — Jennifer Chancellor

He’s No. 5!

Oklahoma’s own, Sen. James Inhofe (R-Tulsa) is the fifth most conservative lawmaker in the nation, according to a recent report from National Journal. Oh, and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Muskogee) didn’t even break the top 10. Sigh. He hit No. 13.

No jokes, Jim

CFN

Gazette staff
U.S. Rep. James Lankford might want to hire a joke writer when making campaign stops and steer clear of things like war, plague and famine. Lankford is making his bid at the U.S. Senate seat that will be vacated by Tom Coburn.
