Here’s a story about a Bird man and the NBA. (And we’re not talking about former Hornets power forward Chris “Birdman” Andersen and his badass neck tattoos.)

A Three Stooges Celebration

Sample the Stooges for not a lot of scratch.

Comedy

Rod Lott
Hopefully, the new-to-DVD Three Stooges movie — which is actually pretty decent, unless you're a humorless mother-nyuk-er — spurs more viewers to try the real thing. For those wanting to sample their black-and-white brand of slapstick with minimal investment, many bargain-DVD collections exist containing only their material that has fallen into the public domain.

Q: The Winged Serpent

'Q' earns a B+.

Sci-Fi

Rod Lott
Michael Moriarty's Quinn is a lowlife blowhard, a criminal who never has paid taxes but always is quick to pay attention to the bottle. Yet it's this very collection of human deficiencies that marked Q: The Winged Serpent unique upon its 1982 release and helped keep it alive ever since.

LETTERS

Letters to the Editor

Susan Schmidt
My husband and I are volunteers, ushering regularly at the Civic Center for the past 7 years. We found the current production of Wicked to be among the top two shows we have seen in 7 years, second only to The Lion King.

Clear History

Curb your enthusiasm.

Comedy

Rod Lott
Technically, Larry David may not be playing "Larry David" in Clear History, but let's not kid ourselves. The made-for-HBO movie might as well be a Very Special Episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm — it has the beats, the rhythms, the observational improvisation, the happy-go-lucky music, the lisps of J.B. Smoove and, of course, Larry David doing Larry David. The guy has the range of a Playskool walkie-talkie, but hey, can't that be enjoyable for a while?
