In Tanya Chianese’s youth ballet class, students listen more than watch.
She describes movements using imagery, using words instead of steps to
show her class where a foot is placed, how high a chin is lifted or how
low a plié should be.
This weekend, there really will be no place like home. Enjoy Oklahoma City Ballet’s 40th anniversary encore performances of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz at Civic Center Music Hall, 201 N. Walker.
The show debuted during the troupe’s 2008-2009 season, featuring an original score by Kermit Poling. Performances will be 8 p.m. tonight and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.
This show, typical of the immaculate artistic direction of Robert Mills, will feature flying effects and a three-dimensional tornado.
And, of course, the production wouldn't be complete without a Toto:
Expect an 'en pointe' season from Oklahoma City Ballet.
