Oklahoma musicians weren’t great at the state’s first official South by Southwest showcase. They were epic.

The Non was winding down the first evening of The Buffalo Lounge’s
three-day stand at Austin, Texas’ South by Southwest music festival,
when a fascinated reveler couldn’t hold his thoughts in any longer.
Because what better, more appropriate way is there to support Norman Music Festival?
Five downtown Norman bars have teamed up to host a pub crawl benefit for Norman Music Festival Friday night. And you’re invited!
All it costs to hop from bar to bar before winding up at a show by one of Norman’s loudest, heaviest rock bands, Rainbows Are Free (pictured), is $15 before Friday ($20 the day of). The crawl starts at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 11.
Participating bars are Abner’s Ale House, Bill and Dee’s, Bison Witches, The Garage and The Blue Bonnet Bar, which also will host the show. Patrons may also redeem their tickets at the Blue Bonnet for a pub crawl finisher T-shirt, once it’s validated by all five bars.
It being Halloween, costumes are strongly encouraged. For those dressing up, there’ll be contests and prizes awarded. Proceeds go to support NMF, which is of course, a free music festival. So go drink a few beers and help keep it that way!

Here they are, alphabetically:
Jack Daniels Stage • Hayes Carll • The Giving Tree • Parker Millsap • The Damn Quails • Alejandro Escovedo • Krystal Keith • Possum Posse • Camille Harp • John Calvin

Music Matt Carney, Rod Lott Best in Rock: Broncho
Nobody in the metro regularly plays more exciting shows than pop-punk
savages Broncho. When that guitar riff and ensuing solo on “Pick a
Fight” revs up, audiences just know to start hopping, shoving and
yelping along with singer Ryan Lindsey, who’s unafraid of pushing and
kicking back, nor getting his ass slapped mid-show. They may not “Really
Wanna Be Social,” but they’re gonna have to suck it up because we love
’em a bunch.
