The Apparition

I ain’t ’fraid of no ghosts.

Horror

Rod Lott
Call me crazy, but 3,400 square feet seems like an awfully massive home for a strip-mall veterinarian's assistant and a Geek Squad-esque installer of home-theater systems. Then again, the place does have its drawbacks: doors open on their own, furniture moves mysteriously, mold appears, and then things start to die within its well-mortgaged walls — a Costco cactus here, the neighbors’ dog there.

Magic Magic

It could use some, use some

Thriller

Rod Lott
Michael Cera … scary? It's one of the last adjectives I'd apply to Arrested Development's poster child of awkward pauses, yet in the odd thriller Magic Magic, the vibe he exudes is nothing if not uncomfortably creepy. Give him credit for not playing another Indie Mopey Hoodie Boy.

Leaf Hands — Your Imagination

Indie

Louis Fowler
While listening to the opening track of Leaf Hands’ Your Imagination, it’s almost impossible to not stare at the cover art: a bleak, early-winter rural landscape wherein distant figures huddle together and feel a lo-fi sense of melancholy.

Oh, poop

CFN

Gazette staff
We would love to tell you that a man landed himself in the slammer after lobbing a cup of his own feces at an Oklahoma City police officer.

Europa Report

Almost out-of-this-world.

Sci-Fi

Rod Lott
As hinted by the title, Europa Report is built upon faux found footage — this time of the Europa One deep-space expedition, in which astronauts were sent to a moon of Jupiter to drill through its ice and see what's what. We know that "what" will mean their doom.
