As a huge Vincent Price fan, I’ve literally been waiting more than a decade for 1961’s “Master of the World” to hit DVD. At one time, it was slated to be released under MGM’s “Midnite Movies” line — I remember reading in a magazine that screenwriter Richard Matheson either completed interviews or commentary for it — before the studio abandoned that umbrella.

One wacky dude, this Michael Conrad (Michael Gough, Alfred in the "Batman" movies of Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher) of 1963's "Black Zoo." He's the owner of a zoo that appears to be the hottest hang-out in town — frequented not only by schoolchildren, but also newlyweds and hot college girls — and whose furry residents he calls "my children."

For very different reasons, I'll watch any movie with Vincent Price, Bill Murray, Jackie Chan or Carla Gugino. Falling into the first category is 1962's Confessions of an Opium Eater, a rare Price vehicle rare no more, thanks to a DVD debut from Warner Archive.

The self-proclaimed mistress of the dark’s second movie, 2001’s “Elvira’s Haunted Hills,” gets another DVD release in a “special enhanced edition,” and that wording should give you a clue as to the comedy’s wavelength of humor.
