Twinsday: Snowpocalypse 2.0

Or, 'How I spent my rock'n'roll snow day'

We all deal with catastrophe in different ways. So when Snowpocalypse 2.0 hit today, it's only logical that the OKS Twitterverse would have a myriad of reactions.

Red City Radio is incredulous: "Broken skylight in our building. It is officially snowing indoors. I blame Dally."

Dance Robots, Dance! is ecstatic: "boss said i don't have to work today. snow day! video games, fake chicken nuggets and finishing remixes! @katiewicks @baleoutphotos"

Samantha Crain is resigned: "http://twitpic.com/3y139m - Frozen pipes again. Its come to this I guess."

Sherree Chamberlain is logical: "considering making myself watch food inc. on my snow day so i'll stop binge eating on account of cabin fever."

Harp and Lyre has gone crazy: "Getting snowed in again. Time to watch Bring It On."

Wayne Coyne is, well, Wayne Coyne: "The snow drives back the foot that's slow http://twitvid.com/FXNOY"

Steven Boone — Rockabye Baby!: Lullaby Renditions of The Flaming Lips

It works! But maybe only once, unless you've got an infant

There are more entries in the “Rockabye Baby!” series than there are children in that Duggar family on TV, and I’ve lost count of both.

Magnificent seven

A pile of music-related videos, plus tornadoes

It was a big week for music-related videos. Here’s a stack that will keep you busy for a good while.

Here’s NMF Main Stage band Foot Patrol’s muddy, skanky, marginally NSFW clip about their new dance, “The Mudslide.” If this inspires your groove, well, your Saturday just got better.

Heard about The Flaming Lips’ gummy-skull-music-release method? Well, here’s Wayne Coyne dropping the very first edibles off for sale at Guestroom Records (via Delo Creative). Woo-hoo!

The members of Verden, Okla.’s Southern rockers Anti-Mortem have tons of hair to headbang, and they put it to good use here.

Directors Lamar + Nik get creative with melting and growing ice sculptures in this fascinating clip for chillwave/not-chillwave tune “Reds” by Houses.

Ruby Coast (RIYL: Tokyo Police Club) dropped this gorgeous video for “Made to Change” that includes synchronized ice skating, geese and snowy landscapes.

SXSW fave Braids gets a mini-documentary, complete with interviews and four uninterrupted performances. It is pretty remarkable.

And for you tornado junkies out there, here’s terrifying video of some massive, deadly twisters that ripped through Alabama yesterday. —Stephen Carradini

The kids are more than all right

Wayne Coyne gets interviewed by adorable children and their Nintendo plushies.

This comes at you courtesy of @indielawyer, better known as Josh Welch, Oklahoma City criminal defense attorney and personal friend of Wayne Coyne. Welch’s kids apparently have an ongoing YouTube series involving their Mario and Luigi dolls, and in this episode, they’re lucky enough to get to interview The Wayne.

What I love about this is how earnest and silly Coyne is with these two boys, and that behavior isn’t even slightly different from any other interview I’ve ever seen him in. Watch for yourself:

The NYT profiles the Coyne compound

‘People assume we are just gobbling handfuls of acid all the time.’

Back in 2008, The New York Times visited Wayne and his wife’s strange digs -then in the middle of a remodeling- here in Oklahoma City. They recently returned to document the compound operating at full capacity.

Click through to read a fun interview with him, and see some really incredible photographs of the compound, shot by Casey Dunn
