One of our state’s most conservative voices (heck, one of the nation’s) has softened his tone. Sen. Jim Inhofe said recently his “attitude” toward his across-the-aisle Senate peers changed as a result of sympathy he received after the death of his son, Perry Inhofe, 52, who died in a plane crash in November.

Remember that guy whose unarmed friend, Antwun Parker, was fatally shot during a 2009 robbery at Reliable Discount Pharmacy on the south side? You know, the pharmacist who shot him was charged with murder and the story was all over the news nationwide? Well, he’s back in jail.

Winners never quit. Even if they start out by losing a bit. Packard’s New American Kitchen, 201 NW 10th St., had to endure an early losing streak. The menu seemed ambitious and different, but like so many restaurants, it took time for the food and the service to meet the high expectations of the customers.

Last call for Stage Center?

Jan. 16 is the deadline for Oklahoma City performing arts lovers to save Stage Center theater, formerly known as Mummers Theater. On that day, the Downtown Design Review Committee will decide whether to approve razing the theater, which was designed by Harvard-educated architect John M. Johansen and opened in 1970.
