God’s presence amid horror

Letters to the Editor

David Hull
Amid of the horror in Connecticut, many fellow Christians likely will want to take up the counterpoint to the media’s discussions about guns and other perceived conservative Christian stereotypical debasements. Please don’t take the bait.

Kanye West — Yeezus

The skills match the ego.

Hip Hop/Rap

Zach Hale
Try as you might, but there’s no escaping Kanye West. Turn on the TV, radio, computer — hell, take a stroll downtown and you might see his mug projected on the side of a building. It’s an undeniable fact of life in 2013: Kanye West is bigger than Buddha, Krishna and The Beatles (today, anyway) and he’ll be the first to let you know about it.

‘Ex-gay’ ministry

A pair of Oklahomans help form a religiously affiliated group to “break the power of same-sex attraction.”

News

Greg Horton
Two Oklahoma City ministries are key players in the formation of a new nationwide network of so-called ex-gay ministries. Stephen Black, executive director of Oklahoma City-based First Stone Ministries, is vice chairman of the board of the newly formed Restored Hope Network, cites the organization’s official website.

LETTERS

Letters to the Editor

C. Dale German
Atheist Rebecca Vitsmun is quoted in Gazette on Aug. 7 as saying, “I decided it was impossible for the god that I believed in to condemn billions of people in Asia, Africa and across the world to eternal damnation for not knowing who Jesus was… I decided that all religions were worshiping the same thing as long as they believed that good was the thing to strive for.”

Vince Gill looks hate in the face

CFN

Gazette staff
Sometimes, people surprise you (in a good way). We here at CFN were more than pleasantly surprised last week when we ran across a video of one of Oklahoma’s world-famous country crooners (and Northwest Classen High School grad — go mighty Knights!), Vince Gill, giving those jerks at Westboro Baptist Church the what-haveyou. On Sept. 8, Westboro members set up outside the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, Mo., where Gill was set to perform.

Throwing stones at glass houses

CFN

Gazette staff
Three years after her hyperbolic statement that called the “agenda” of the gay community worse than that of a terrorist, Rep. Sally Kern still defends her opinion. Janet Parshall, host of radio show In the Market recently interviewed Kern on the subject, News Channel 4 reported.
