Rational on climate change

Letters to the Editor

Mike Brake
Robin Meyers uses the terms “idiot” and “criminal” to describe Sen. Jim Inhofe’s opposition to prevailing theories of climate change (Commentary, “An embarrassment of a senator,” Oct. 3, Oklahoma Gazette), which suppose that man-made greenhouse gases are responsible for upward trends in global temperatures. That is unfortunate; it is rarely helpful to personally denigrate those with differing views, and it avoids a real look at issues more complicated than either Inhofe or Meyers seems to understand.

The Right to Love: An American Family

A documentary follows one gay couple’s fight for ‘The Right to Love.’

Documentary

Rod Lott
Just handfuls of hours ago, as part of Election Day, the Senate gained its first openly gay senator. Even to a heterosexual male like me, the win of Wisconsin’s Tammy Baldwin is an encouraging step that our country is slowly starting to accept that we aren’t all alike, that differences should be celebrated, rather than feared.

Not our war

Letters to the Editor

Rep. Paul Wesselhoft and Nathaniel Batchelder
At a state Capitol rally, four speakers on the left and four speakers on the right addressed 200 participants gathered in near 100-degree heat. The message was, “President Obama must hear from all of us that Syria is a powder-keg that the U.S. must not become militarily embroiled in. Syria is not our war.”

LETTERS

Letters to the Editor

Wanda Jo Stapleton
Thanks for publishing that great commentary (Sept. 11, Gazette) titled “Contraception empowers women” by Ryan Kiesel. Kiesel said that Oklahoma legislators passed an amendment to “limit access to emergency contraception in Oklahoma.” Limiting access to emergency contraception would undoubtedly mean more unintended pregnancies, thus the likelihood of more abortions — abortions which these same legislators fanatically oppose! What a revolting development!

Is this hearing place obsolete? After founding, nursing, and sustaining numerous theater companies, those ineffable entities, neither thing nor place, nor just knots of artists contending with themselves, but also made of the eyes and ears of those...
