Not everybody’s ready for some football.

Features

Jenny Coon Peterson
I don’t like football. I don’t care who won last year’s Heisman Trophy. I don’t care what hilariously named bowl game your team is attending. (Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, really?) And I feel really alone in that sentiment.

Net gain

Team sports help disabled participants stay fit, have fun and build confidence.

Features

Susannah Waite
Basketball coach Margaret Kierl loves coaching her athletes and seeing the fun they have out on the court. She had an opportunity to do so last week, when OU Medicine hosted its fourth annual wheelchair basketball tournament benefiting the Greater Oklahoma Disabled Sports Association, or GODSA.

Zero Dark Thirty

Controversy doesn’t lessen the impact of one of 2012’s best films.

Thriller

Phil Bacharach
Don’t trust the audience members.

Trusting them appears to be the cardinal sin of Zero Dark Thirty, a masterful, absorbing film dramatizing the CIA's 10-year hunt for Osama bin Laden. It has been at the center of controversy for its depiction of U.S. intelligence agents using “enhanced interrogation techniques,” otherwise known as torture.

Fast & Furious 6

Not so ‘Fast.’

Action

Rod Lott
Right down to the dramatic shot of the cast members walking in a single row toward the camera, the title sequence for Fast & Furious 6 feels every bit like that of a TV series. It’s only natural, given how episodic this entry is — all it lacks is the “Special Guest Star” credit. (But on that note, don’t leave as soon as it ends.)

Ghost Team One

A spirited spoof.

Comedy

Rod Lott
With this Halloween season being the first without a new chapter in the Paranormal Activity series, perhaps a Paranormal Activity spoof is the next best thing. There's no shortage of them, but of the roughly half-dozen I've seen, Ghost Team One is the only one worth watching.
