The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia

Boo! Hiss.

Horror

Rod Lott
Let’s forgive the ridiculousness of the state-confused title that is The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia, in order to focus on the film itself.

Said film means well, yet is terrible.

Swan it

OKG7 things to do

Gazette staff

So hard to believe, yet so true: Despite 41 years in existence, Oklahoma City Ballet never has staged a full performance of Swan Lake, one of the classic ballets of all time. That changes at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday, when the 26-dancer troupe rewrites history at Civic Center Music Hall, 201 N. Walker. Tickets are $33-$55. Call 848-8637 or visit okcballet.com.

Gangster Squad

Speaking ‘Confidential’ly ...

Action

Rod Lott
Gangster Squad takes place in 1949 Los Angeles, a time when the Hollywood sign still sported “LAND” at the end, and a time that looks like L.A. Confidentiala lot like L.A. Confidential.

Horror

Rod Lott

42

A solid hit.

Drama

Phil Bacharach
In chronicling the real-life tale of Jackie Robinson, who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier in 1947 when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers, 42 is schmaltzy, sentimental and shameless. There is no dabbling in highfalutin niceties like subtext or nuance. Writer-director Brian Helgeland, who penned the hardly simplistic L.A. Confidential, keeps his focus simple and is content to let his hero worship fly.
