The (off)beat goes on

OKC offers many music venues off the beaten path.

Music

Phil Bacharach
Randy Cassimus has spent years cranking out rock ’n’ roll in bars and clubs throughout Oklahoma City. He’s used to playing over the clink of beer glasses and shouts of liquored-up patrons when he plays with local band The Hi-Def Howlers. So he wasn’t quite sure what to expect when he booked an acoustic gig at a bookstore.

All-you-can-eat chili! And now that we have your attention, here are the deets for the fifth annual Chili Bowl fundraiser: from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the University of Oklahoma’s Lightwell Gallery, 520 Parrington Oval in Norman. The chili is $8, unless you want to keep the studentmade ceramic bowl, in which case your total is $15. Call 325-2691 or visit art.ou.edu.

Hot house

Yes, it’s a giant gingerbread house. Yes, it’ll be on display through the new year.

Features

Malena Lott
Making a gingerbread house is at the heart of many families’ holiday traditions. Now, Ingrid’s Kitchen, located in the heart of Oklahoma city at 3701 North Youngs Blvd. (2 blocks west of Pennsylvania Avenue on NW 36th Street) is getting in on the act with a life-size gingerbread house.
